Here I feel I belong
“Here I feel that I belong”
Growing up, I listened to my grandmother share her reasons for staying not just in America, but specifically in Kansas. When tragedy upended her life with chaos and fear, the local community surrounded her family with love and support. In that pivotal moment, she found an overwhelming sense of belonging.
Her stories were filled with war and loss, but also with sacrifice, bravery, and the enduring strength to never give up.
We, as a community, have the power to be that same anchor for our neighbors today. While our leaders bear the responsibility to protect and make decisions that improve life for everyone, we hold power too. Simply reaching out and showing up for our neighbors can create a positive ripple effect for generations to come.
